This is a FREE to audio introduction to three of the Victorian shopping arcades in Mayfair.

It’s completely free to download and gives you a good introduction to the History of the Arcades as well as providing directions to each of the them.

The Victorian era was a time and place where the need for a more enjoyable form of shopping led to the creation of department stores like Harrods or Selfridges and also to the building of the arcades.

Grand indoor spaces where multiple shops could provide an enjoyable shopping experience to the wealthy of London. Join Elisha, from the Hidden History team, to find out more about how each of the key arcades was built and the Hidden History that they hold. This is an audio introduction to the Arcades and can be listened to independently as you visit the three different arcades across Mayfair at your own pace.

After 17:30 as the Arcade will be shut.

The Royal Opera Arcade, Burlington Arcade and Piccadilly Arcade 

10:00 – 16:00 – The Arcades will be open at this time, but it will be outside of the rush hour.

All three of the Arcades are in the heart of Mayfair with The Palace, The Mall, Green Park, St James Square and St James Park all within a short walk of the arcades. It’s a great part of the city to just explore on foot as well.
